About

Shari Blecher is a founding Shareholder of Lieberman Blecher & Sinkevich P.C. who represents businesses, individuals and municipalities in a wide array of environmental regulatory and litigation matters. Ms. Blecher regularly guides clients through the remediation of industrial, commercial and residential properties. Her commercial and industrial cleanup matters range from gasoline service station remediations to large industrial site cleanups encompassing multiple areas of concern and various contaminants, including TCE, PCE, BTEX and MEK, to name a few. Much of Ms. Blecher’s practice is focused on recovering environmental cleanup costs for her clients, including securing insurance coverage for remediation projects, as well as pursuing prior owners and/or operators for cleanup costs. Ms. Blecher deals regularly with insurance carriers and their counsel, and she has been successful in obtaining insurance coverage for many of her clients – helping them to defray the cost of often expensive environmental remediation projects. Her success as environmental insurance coverage counsel has ranged from obtaining cleanup costs for homeowner heating oil UST spill cases, to resolving multi-million dollar remediation and defense costs disputes for commercial property matters. As part of her robust environmental litigation practice, Ms. Blecher also pursues responsible parties for cleanup costs under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (“CERCLA”), and state equivalent statutes, including New Jersey’s Spill Compensation and Control Act (“Spill Act”).

Ms. Blecher is also a well known toxic tort attorney who has achieved outstanding results for individuals and communities exposed to hazardous substances, such as methyl tertriary butyl ether (MTBE), coal tar, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA, also known as C8), benzene, uranium, radon and other chemicals. Ms. Blecher’s toxic tort practice is especially focused on contaminated drinking water, exposure to contaminated indoor air (i.e., vapor intrusion), and exposure to toxic mold. She also represents individuals and business owners whose properties and businesses have been adversely impacted by contamination, including diminution in property value claims. Ms. Blecher has achieved multi-million dollar damage awards for clients whose water and air has been contaminated. Ms. Blecher also has a national network of attorneys that she teams up with in order to protect those who have been exposed to hazardous chemicals throughout the United States.

Ms. Blecher has been recognized repeatedly for her excellence in the environmental law arena. In 2002, she was named to the New Jersey Law Journal’s list of the top 40 attorneys under 40. The “40 Under 40” are a group of attorneys that the Journal believes will have a positive impact on the legal community in years to come. Building on her success, in 2007, Ms. Blecher was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine, and her environmental work became that year’s cover story. In 2011, Ms. Blecher was again recognized by the publication,* receiving the “Super Lawyer” designation.

Ms. Blecher also serves as a qualified mediator in the New Jersey state court system. In this role, Ms. Blecher helps parties in litigation find common ground and reach amicable solutions, avoiding the expense and uncertainty of the court room.

Ms. Blecher and her husband, Dr. Haim Blecher, and their three children reside in Princeton, New Jersey, where she is active in her local community and various charitable organizations.
